The class association was formed by a group of owners, keen to build the class, maintain  one design fleets at local and national regattas, and, acting as a Member National Authority ensure we adhere to the J/70 International class rules.

As per rule C 3.1(b) of the J/70 International Class Rules (Effective January 1, 2019) all J/70 Helms (who must be either owners or Group 1 sailors) and all Crew who do not have Group 1 Sailor IDs (i.e. pro/Group 3 or unclassified crew) must have J/70 UKICA membership in order to race.

We now use the Webcollect membership platform to collect and manage UK Class memberships. The hope is that this will reduce the administrative burden of membership renewals both for both yourself and the class.

and then go to https://webcollect.org.uk/j70ukclass and click on browse subscriptions under the ‘New Members’. Here you will be able to purchase your membership.

The membership types and annual rates approved at the UK Class AGM for 2025 are:

• Full Member –  £100 – for all boat owners
• Associate Members – £50 – for all Group 3 crews (Professional sailors crewing, not helming) and all Group 1 helms (Amateur/Corinthian non-owner helms)
• Junior Member ( Under 25) –  £25 – any Group 1 helm under 25
• Honorary Member- £0 – as nominated by the UK Class Association
