2024 Grand Slam Championship and Events Calendar

There will be plenty of J/70 events both in UK and in Europe in 2024. The main UK event will be the Class “Grand Slam” series.

Primary UK Events

Grand Slam Series

The primary series run by the class throughout the season. Usually up to 7 races over each weekend on Windward/Leeward courses. Run by individual host clubs, each event has its own prizes, plus overall series prizes will be awarded by the UK Class at the end of year class dinner and prizegiving.

Entry is for each individual event per that events own NoR. There is no separate entry required for the Grand Slam series. Details of series scoring etc. will be in the series Notice of Race which will be available via the class website early in 2024. The planned Grand Slam events in 2024 are:

* The UK Nationals will be non-discardable for the series results.
** Final 2024 grand slam event to be confirmed – likely to be October and Solent based.  

Sprint Championships 

A weekend of fast and furious short format racing. Up to 5 short races back to back each day. Run as part of the Royal Southern Summer July Regatta The events will also incorporate categories for Youth and Mixed crews. The 2024 Sprint Championship event is:

International Events

2024 Continental and World Championships

Following the fantastic 2023 European Championships held in the UK and hosted by WPNSA, there are one European and two World Championships in Europe in 2024, so a great opportunity to travel to some super venues and enjoy top level racing. Dates are:

Note that the World Championships in Palma will most likely require qualification and invitation. The European Championship and the Corinthian Worlds will be open but likely to fill up quickly!

The Italian J70 fleet is probably one of the most active European Fleets. In 2024 they will run a  series of 3 day events:
