Round 3 of the 2019 J/70 UK Class Grand Slam Series, the RORC Vice Admiral’s Cup, was won by Paul Ward’s Eat, Sleep, J, Repeat with a crew of Ruaridh Scott,Mario Trindade and Oli Wells. Second was Clive Bush racing Darcey, and reigning Grand Slam Champion, Doug Struth’s DSP, was third. 15 J/70 teams took part in six races Saturday 12 May – Sunday 13 May. Conditions varied considerably from light air to full planing conditions.Virtually half the fleet made the podium during the regatta.All races were decided by a minute or less, with Race 5 going to Eat, Sleep, J, Repeat by just 5 seconds from Darcey.

“This was the first time for the J70s at the Vice Admiral’s Cup and the race team did a great job for us,” commented Paul Ward. “Six exciting races over 2 days. The J70s are getting ready for the Darwin Escapes J/70 Worlds in Torbay in September. Onshore at the RORC Clubhouse we enjoyed catching up with the other classes, a few beers and a curry. Thanks to all of the team at RORC for a great event!
