A tactical move by Raymarine to support the J/70 European Championships

Raymarine, a world leader in marine electronics, are the latest sponsor to support the J/70 European Championships, hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble. The regatta commences on Monday 5th June, with 50-60 entries anticipated.

Raymarine will provide onsite support at the event, and a selection of high value prizes for the final prizegiving, to be held on the terrace outside the sailing club’s smart new Prince Philip Yacht Haven. Gemma Dunn from Key Yachting, the J Boats agent in the UK, said “Raymarine Racemaster and Tacktick systems are fitted to most of the J/70s we deliver here. J/70 European Championship 2017 Preview

The 2017 J/70 European Championship will be held in Great Britain for the very first time. Since the J/70 was introduced in 2012, over 1300 J/70s have now been launched, making the exciting one design sports boat the fastest growing sailing class in the world.

About 50 teams are expected  for the J/70 Open European Championship, from eleven different countries; France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. Principle Race Officer, Stuart Childerley, is scheduling 11 races, and in early June, medium gradient breeze of about 12 knots is likely, and possibly enhanced by sea breeze later in the day, to provide high octane surfing conditions. Audi Sponsors J/70 Worlds

Porto Cervo, Sardinia)- The YC Costa Smeralda, in concert with the Italian J/70 Class, have announced that the J/70 World Championship has a major new sponsor for the event!

Riccardo Bonadeo, Commodore of YC Costa Smeralda, has announced that German auto company AUDI, partner of many international sailing events, will be the main sponsor of the J/70 World Championship 2017.

The Audi J/70 World Championship is going to take place in the waters of Porto Cervo from September 12th to September 16th off the fabulous YCCS facility on the northeastern side of Sardinia.  Over 80 teams are expected from across the world, with virtually all European countries represented plus, Asian, North American and South American teams joining what promises to be an epic sailing experience for J/70 sailors.  For more J/70 World Championship sailing information

North Sails Designs Faster than Ever
Congratulations Bruno Pasquinelli and team Stampede for winning the 55-boat J/70 Winter Series at Davis Island Yacht Club in Florida, with consistent finishes of 2-1-3 in the three-regatta event. Bruno used North’s XCS-1 Mainsail, a product launched last summer that also powered World Champion team Catapult in San Francisco last September.

Team Yeti crowned J/70 Grand Slam Champions!

Team Yeti have been crowned champions of the inaugural J/70 UK Grand Slam Series. The sailing team skippered by Jack Davies have been determined winners of the season-long regatta series organised by the UK J/70 class. Over 50 different teams competed in the series, and Yeti clinched the overall title by just a matter of points from Patrick Liardet’s Cosmic and Allan Higgs’ ESF Energy. Continue reading
