This year we have launched a new app “J/70 UK Declare” for owners and charterers to make the required Boat and Crew declarations for UK Grand Slam events.
The J/70 UK Declare app will be much easier and quicker to use for competitors that the previous forms. Data for your crew roster and the boat needs to be loaded only once for each boat or crew member per season.
For each event competitors make their driver and crew selection, update any changed records (e.g. Vakaros firmware level) and then submit the declaration.
The app will allow owners and charterers to provide details of the Vakaros Atlas2 devices and all crew World Sailing Categorisations as required by the J/70 class rules and the Notice of Series for the J/70 UK Grand Slam providing the data needed by Race Officers to run racing with Vakaros Racesense.
It also checks compliance with the J/70 UK Class membership requirements: All Owners should be Full Members, all Cat 1 Drivers and all Cat 3 Crew must be Associate Member.
The app runs on the Desktop or on Android or iPhone mobile devices. Owners/Charterers can click the button to launch or go to https://j70-uk-declare.web.app/.
The app provides the following functionality for competitors and race management teams….
- For Competitors (Owners and Charterers):
- Yacht and Atlas 2 Details
- Confirm the yacht details (Sail number, Boat name, Owner/Charterer details)
- Submit the Vakaros Atlas 2 serial number for each boat and the firmware level of their device
(NB For Charterers from the RTYC, RYS, RSrnYC this information will be provided by their club bosun or sailing manager and will be loaded automatically when the sail number is entered in the app). - The app will check that the firmware level matches the level required for the event. If it doesn’t then the owner (or the club contact for charter boats) will be prompted to update. To see how to do this watch the Updating Atlas 2 Firmware Video – Vakaros
- Crew Roster
- Manage a Crew Roster for the season including World Sailing IDs.
- Validate each crew member’s Categorisation with World Sailing when they are added to the Roster. If any have expired or no Categorisation the owner is prompted to ask the crew to correct this at: https://www.sailing.org/sailors/sailor-categorisations/
- Validate Owners, Drivers and Cat 3 for their J/70 UK Class membership status
- Event Declaration
- Select the crew from the boat roster who will be competing in the next event
- Submit the Crew and Boat declaration to the Race Officers, Organising Authority and UK J/70 Class Race admin teams
- The app will confirm the Division (Open or Corinthian) and whether the boat meets the criteria for Mixed or Youth classifications
- The app can be run by the owner or a second person if they do the admin for the boat. They must be marked as “Second Submitter” in the crew roster in the app.
